What “average shower curtain length” means

Seventy-two inches is a common shopping reference, not a regulated enclosure dimension. Current US retail examples include both 71- and 72-inch square products, so verify the exact label.

Measure width along the rod path

Use the installed straight or curved rod length and add only the intentional overlap for the actual opening. A curved path is longer than the straight line between its ends.

Measure length from the ring or hook reference

Record the distance to the selected lower edge. Curtain and liner hole placement, ring drop, and finished tolerance can make two nominally equal products hang differently.

Sizing cannot guarantee water containment

Spray direction, liner behavior, curb or tub geometry, gaps, and movement all matter. Use these dimensions for neutral product comparison, not as a containment promise.
