METHOD

How the calculation works

For conventional vertical construction, the calculator determines the whole number of usable fabric widths required for each panel. It adds heading, hem, and side allowances, then rounds cut length up to the next pattern repeat.

For a half-drop match, alternating widths receive a conservative half-repeat shift. If railroading is selected, the calculation changes orientation only when the finished drop plus allowances fits inside the fabric width.

The total order length includes the editable contingency. Yards and meters are always shown together so a supplier quote can be checked without re-entering the project.
