Calculate room-divider curtain width and drop from the actual track path, fullness, attachment point, and floor clearance.

Start here

Size a room-divider curtain from the complete usable track path multiplied by the selected heading fullness, then measure the drop from the actual carrier or hook reference to the intended lower edge. A divider label does not guarantee privacy, acoustics, light control, or suitability for a particular ceiling or support.

How to measure

    Measure the usable rod or track span and record decorative finials, returns, bends, or overlaps separately.

    Measure the finished drop from the attachment point named for the selected heading to the intended lower endpoint.

    Convert inches and centimeters only after recording the original measurement; use 1 inch = 2.54 centimeters.

    Compare the calculated target with the exact product label, package quantity, heading take-up, and manufacturer tolerance before ordering.

Measure the path the curtain actually travels

A straight divider uses the usable rail span. A corner layout uses each straight run plus the selected system’s corner geometry; the front-to-back room distance is not automatically the track length.

Choose one-way or split draw

A one-way curtain stacks at one end, while a split pair divides the cloth. That decision affects panel count and where fabric gathers when open, but not the total fullness calculation.

Set the lower endpoint deliberately

Measure from the actual carrier or hook point to the selected floor clearance. Check more than one position when the floor varies, and verify the product’s finished tolerance.

What sizing cannot promise

Fabric opacity, seams, edge gaps, movement, and room geometry change visual separation. Measurements cannot guarantee privacy, sound reduction, light blocking, or hardware capacity.

Measure the actual window and selected product. Finished sizes, fullness, header take-up, hardware geometry, and manufacturer tolerances vary.
