Curtain-panel dimensions usually describe flat fabric before gathering. Check whether the package contains one panel or a pair, add every panel width to get total flat width, and compare that total with the rod or track width multiplied by fullness.

How to measure

    Measure the actual working rod or track width; if hardware is not installed, record the window-frame width and your planned side extensions separately.

    Measure the drop from the reference point stated for the selected heading—not from an unrelated edge of the window.

    Check whether a package contains one panel or a pair, then compare total flat fabric width rather than the label width alone.

    Recheck the selected product, tape, hooks, carriers, and fabric before ordering or cutting.

A 52-inch panel is not 52 inches of finished coverage

At 2× fullness, one flat 52-inch panel produces about 26 inches of nominal gathered coverage before overlaps or returns.

Pairs can be labeled differently by region

Some UK ready-made products describe the width of each curtain in a pair. Some US products are sold as single panels. Read the package quantity and dimensions together.

Panel count is a seam and opening choice

A single panel can draw to one side; a pair opens at the center. More panels can make handling a wide opening easier but add vertical joins.
